Grayling Area Transportation Study Welcome to the Grayling Area Transportation Study web page. This site is intended as an informational message board for everyone involved in the project. Check back for updates that will include notices of our public workshops. Thank you for your involvement and input.
Project Introduction In partnership with Crawford County, Crawford County Economic Development Partnership, Camp Grayling, the City of Grayling, Beaver Creek Township, Grayling Township and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), NEMCOG is undertaking a traffic study to address both the immediate and long-range transportation needs in the Grayling area. The study will examine existing and future traffic congestion and safety concerns. Assisting them with the study is URS Corporation, an international traffic engineering firm with offices in Traverse City. A landscape architecture firm from Traverse City, R. Clark Associates, is also assisting, along with LSL Planning, a community planning consultant with offices in Grand Rapids and Royal Oak. Throughout the course of the study, a series of public workshops will be held to gather input from the local communities.
Project Area The study area includes portions of Crawford and Roscommon Counties, all of the City of Grayling, and portions of Beaver Creek, Frederic, Grayling and Maple Forest Townships. Follow the link to the study area map for a closer look at what areas are included in the study.
