Alpena The launch provides access to the Thunder Bay River and provides parking for 7 vehicles. The ramp has a gravel surface of limited depth.
Thomson Park State Avenue Alpena Thomson Park receives heavy seasonal usage and is renowned for its excellent beach/swimming area.
Long Lake County Park
 
Alpena The park offers 105 campsites, two bathing beaches, paved boat ramp, two pavilions, three docks, and a picnic area on the east side of Long Lake.
Mich-e-ki-wis Park State Avenue Alpena This site offers a picnic shelter, artificial ice rink,  bathhouse / restroom building, tennis courts, volleyball courts, ball fields, and two playgrounds.
Island Park US 23 & Long Rapids Rd. Alpena The site offers opportunities to view native plants and wildlife in natural habitats. The land is maintained by the Alpena Wildlife Sanctuary Committee.
The BiPath City-Wide Alpena The trail system provides scenic views of the Thunder Bay River and Lake Huron.
Gleason Roadside Park M-32 & Eleventh Ave. Alpena This roadside park is maintained by the county road commission. The park offers wildlife viewing, picnic area, and fishing opportunities.
Alpena County Fairgrounds Eleventh Ave. Alpena Location of the annual Alpena County Fair. Site contains a variety of animal and display buildings, campground, playground, and track with grandstand.
Bay View Park State Avenue Alpena The park provides a fenced playground for kids, restroom/shower building, a nearby boat harbor, picnic area, and an open area used for art fairs.
LaMarre Park Eighth and River St. Alpena This site offers a 367 foot wooden pier for fishing on the Thunder Bay River. It also provides a picnic area, interpretative signs, and nearby parking.

Alpena The pathway provides a nature walk, about one mile, through various upland/lowland forest types. Opportunities to view wildlife in various habitats as well.

Alpena The site allows boaters to access Lake Huron's Thunder Bay. It is located 3 miles South of the city of Alpena just off US 23 on Partidge Pt. Road.

Alpena The snowmobile trail is located within the Mackinaw State Forest just off Werth Road.
Alpena Community College 666 Johnson St. Alpena The campus recreation facilities include two softball fields, skeet range, and nearby nature trails along the Thunder Bay River.
Outdoor Nature Classroom N. Partridge Point Rd. Alpena Privy's will be available - wheelchair accessible. School bus parking is also available.
