I. Harbor View: Great Lakes freighters can frequently be seen loading limestone at the Port of Calcite. The port serves the Michigan Limestone Operations mine at Rogers City, the largest open pit limestone mine in the world. The plant’s limestone crusher, stone conveyors and material stockpiles are also visible from I harbor View. |

2. Harbor View Road: This private gravel road provides seasonal access to Harbor View. ‘The gate is generally open during daylight hours of the spring, summer and fall stone shipment season. |

3. South Shore Park: A half mile of Lake Huron shoreline forms the eastern boundary of South Shore Park, where swimming, beach-combing and canoe or kayak launching are popular. The west side of the park includes four regulation softball and Little League diamonds, available for public use. |

4. Bungalow Row: The trail travels one block along Lake Street, passing a number of lane Craftsman-style bungalows built in the early I 900s by U.S. Steel to house company executives who worked at the nearby Calcite plant. |

5. Lakeside Park: Rogers City’s pride and joy is Lakeside Park and Beach. Swimming and picnicking facilities are available, along with beach volleyball, an extensive playground and the Rogers City Band and Performance Shell, where outdoor concerts are held during summer months. The Sailors’ Memorial honors local men who perished in shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. |

6. Pavilion Grill: Ice cream cones, burgers, salads, soft drinks and more are sold at the grill, which operates seasonally, with deck seating overlooking Lake Huron. The adjacent picnic pavilion may be reserved for group celebrations. |

7. Rogers City Marina: The City’s 145-slip small boat harbor is a delightful place to stroll. Sailing, cruising and fishing boats dock next to a six-lane boat launch and viewing platform. |

8. Breakwater Walk and Fishing Platform: Visitors can try their luck with Rogers City’s famous salmon using our new fishing platform. |

9. Public Works Park: ‘[he trail wraps around the Rogers City Sewage Treatment Plant. Wire mesh rock-tilled gabions protect the plant from high water, and frame the view over Lake Huron. |

10. North Shore Park: is built upon abandoned right—of—way from the Detroit and Mackinaw Rail Line. Today it is an informal beach area and trail route. The Driftwood Motel and Buoy Restaurant presently occupy the old rail depot site, offering food, drinks and lodging facilities to trail users. |

II. Riverview: From Linden Street, take Riverview St. east a half block to the water, and see the flow of the Trout River entering Lake Huron. |

12. Seagull Point: Sunsets are spectacular at Seagull Point. Picnic and toilet facilities are available in summer months. Excellent views of’ Rogers City and the shoreline are offered. |

13. Seagull Point Park: An extensive network of nature trails traverse Seagull Point Park. The park features a mile of unspoiled beach, dunes and woodlands. Fossilized corals are often found here among the beach stone. |

14. Trout River Park: The trail follows the banks of the Trout River through a mature mixed conifer and hardwood forest, crossing the Trout River Bridge and entering a wildflower meadow. |

15. Herman Vogler Conservation Area: Over seven miles of hiking, hiking, and ski pathways connect to the Huron Sunrise Trail in this 270-acre forested property. Best conservation and forestry management practices are showcased, including a boardwalk wetland walkway. |

16. Pond Overlook: The trailhead is located on a point overlooking a dam and impoundment pond on Trout River. The pond area provides excellent wildlife habitat, and is home to blue heron. |
