EXAMPLES OF MAP LAYOUT BY NEMCOG STAFF FOR PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATIONS

Northeast Michigan Road & Trail Bicycling Guide:
The Road & Trail Bicycling Guide contains information on multi-use trails and footpaths including surface type. In addition, all roads are classified according to traffic volume and roads with at least a 4-foot paved shoulder are indicated. Recreational facilities also appear on the map and include amenity information for each. In addition, cities and villages are classified by service level available. The map also contains State forest land and the Huron National Forest as points of interests including summits, lighthouses, shipwrecks, and wildlife viewing areas.

Cheboygan County Map
NEMCOG staff created the layout of the current official Cheboygan County map.
US 23 Huron Shores Heritage Route Brochures (6 counties)
The Heritage Route brochure group contains a brochure for each of the 6 Heritage Route counties (Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Alpena, Alcona, Iosco, and Arenac) and feature recreational att
ractions up and down the Sunrise Coast.
Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Shipwreck Map
The Shipwreck Map was created for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and shows all shipwrecks and classifies them by steam-powered or sail-powered.
Cheboygann County ORV Map
The Cheboygan County ORV Map shows ORV routes, ATV trails, Motorcycle Trails (DNR license or Secretary of State license trails) throughout the county and includes trailhead parking areas and distances. County roads open to ORVs are indicated in green, while county roads closed to ORVs are shown in red. The Black Mountain Scramble Area also appears on the map. In addition, the maps show State forest land and parks.
Downtown Alpena Map
The downtown Alpena map was created to be used with the downtown guidebook available at the Chamber/CVB. The map shows the DDA area, parking locations, and buildings of interest. In addition, the map features a grid which corresponds to the business listings in the downtown Alpena brochure.
Alcona County Quilt Trail Map
The Alcona County Quilt Trail Map shows quilt trail locations and was created to correspond to the Quilt Trail narrative. Travelers follow the map to find large wooden quilt squares at local historic sites. In addition, a smaller quilt trail is located in Harrisville where visitors can find smaller cloth quilt squares located in local shops.

This map shows recreational attractions throughout Alcona, Alpena, & Presque Isle Counties and is on display at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena.
Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Dive/Kayak Map

This map was created for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and shows shipwreck locations (including GPS coordinates) and classifieds the wrecks according to shallow, mid-level or deep.
Michigan Association of Regions Poster
This poster was created to showcase the Michigan Association of Regions and to give information about the purpose of the Regions. It was displayed at a Michigan Association of Regions Conference.
